It was an August evening and I was strolling at the market on the river of Takayama, a small village in Japan five hours from Tokyo.
I was desperately in need of a new hard drive to take more photos, so I stopped at a somewhat shabby stall, but it had what I was looking for.
A strange hard drive with a red sun and some Japanese characters was resting on the market table. I had run out of memory, so I bought it without thinking too much.
Back at the hotel, I started transferring the photos I had brought from Italy into that gadget...
Suddenly, a scratching noise came from the hard drive and the engravings on it and the red sun disappeared.
What happened next indelibly corrupted those photos.*
